- Canada's FTZ model is 'geographically flexible' (benefits available anywhere in the country rather than in fixed enclosed zones), delivered through five programs: three under the Duty Deferral Program (Duties Relief Program, Drawback Program, Customs Bonded Warehouses Program) and two under GST/HST relief (Export Distribution Centre Program, Exporters of Processing Services Program). Benefits include relief/deferral of customs duties and GST/HST on imported goods that are stored, processed, or used in manufacturing and subsequently exported; up to four years to export goods before duties are payable; duties/taxes eliminated for re-exported goods. Supported by ~16 designated 'Foreign Trade Zone Points' across the country that help businesses access the programs. Administered in coordination with Finance Canada and the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA).
