- Established under the Eilat Free Trade Zone Law (Tax Exemptions and Discounts), 1985. Exemption from VAT on sale of goods and services within the city limits (with exceptions such as private vehicles, motorcycles, TVs, cigarettes, high-value jewelry); imported goods for consumption/sale in Eilat are VAT-exempt and importers via other ports may claim VAT refunds. Enterprises with Free Trade Zone status can import, export and re-export without customs duties. Additional benefits cited include employer wage tax refunds for Eilat-resident employers (up to ~20% of gross wages, subject to ceiling), lower company tax / withholding on dividends, property-tax exemption and unrestricted foreign-currency use. Registration as an Eilat VAT dealer is a constitutive requirement for resident status and benefits.
