- Free (customs-free) zones are established in a number of Czech cities. Czech and EU laws permit foreign investors in joint ventures to use commercial or industrial customs-free zones into which goods may be imported and later exported without depositing customs duties; duties apply only if goods are introduced into the local economy. Note: per the U.S. State Department, the Czech Republic does not have classic 'special economic zones'.
